Vibrant Bliss

The globally popular attributes of the SL 34 variety from Kenya with its juicy body, notes of black currant, but also exotic floral aromas can be found in the cup. It is an exceptionally clear and crisp coffee with an intense sweetness reminiscent of pink candy and a long tartuffo aftertaste. Its unique cup profile earned it 4th place at the BOP 2022 and we are delighted that we were able to bid on it to offer it to you.

About this coffee

Our auction lot at the BOP (Best of Panama auction) with the exact name "Tollef SL-34", was planted by our partner farm Finca Lerida in Boquete on the "Floral Estate" about 5 years ago at 1550 meters. 2022 was the first year the plants produced just enough cherries to compete in the 2022 Best of Panama auction. Due to the small amount of cherries produced of this variety, which is otherwise very dominant in Kenya, this lot is very exclusive. After harvesting, the cherries were washed in the classic way and then dried on drying beds in the shade for about 16 days.

The Farm

The "Flora Estate" is one of the five farms that make up Finca Lerida. Located in the Volcancito region of Boquete, anyone who has the opportunity to visit this farm will feel the magic of this place in the middle of the Panamanian rainforest. Finca Lerida is a woman run farm and her attention to detail is evident throughout. Maria Amuroso grew up as the eldest of 5 siblings in Boquete and grew coffee plants with her grandpa when she was still a girl and helped him with the processing. She always dreamed of her own farm and when Finca Lerida came up for sale in 2009 she breathed life into this special place with one of the best locations for coffee growing. It was her idea 5 years ago to plant the SL 34 variety from Kenya, which develops very well on the high slopes and therefore won fourth place with the first lot at the BOP.
