About this coffee

This washed microlot comes from Luzgardo Meniz and was grown on his organically managed farm Las Golondrinas. The farm is located in Colasay, Cajamarca, at an altitude of 1966-2000 metres above sea level. The 3 hectares of cultivated land are mainly dominated by the local coffee variety Bourbon de Colasay as well as various vegetables and bananas. The harvest period runs from June to October, with 15 seasonal workers assisting on the farm during this period. This coffee undergoes a fermentation process in a ceramic tank, is carefully washed and then dried in the sun using a solar dryer.

ORIGIN INFO

The Producer

We source this coffee through our partners Nordic Approach, as part of a premium programme run by the Origin Coffee Lab organisation. By participating in this premium programme, coffee farmers are given the opportunity to invest in their production and develop higher quality micro-lots through the higher prices they receive for their coffee. The programme is based on generous premiums paid to growers for all our coffees. Investing in communities plays a crucial role in continuing to motivate farmers to produce top quality coffee. This approach not only ensures the continuity of excellent coffees, but also promotes sustainable practices throughout coffee production.
