New year, new harvest, new Leuchtfeuer Experiment: say hello to No.2!

Our new experiment in close coordination with our partner farm in Tarrazú / Costa Rica. Since 2017 we have been sourcing coffee from Carlos Montero, one of the most experienced coffee farmers in Tarrazú, the best and highest coffee-growing region in Costa Rica. In combination with his very ambitious and adventurous son Jacob, they develop the most interesting coffees in the whole region, in our opinion. Reason enough to develop a new “experimental solder”. Almost 200kg of green coffee of the Catuai variety, which grows the highest section of Carlos farm (La Pastora), was used for this.

After the ripest and best cherries were hand picked by for our lot, we then stored them in air tight fermentation tanks for five days. With regular monitoring of pH and temperature, the cherries were then dried on african drying beds in the open air for almost 4 weeks until the optimum moisture level was reached.

A truly breathtakingly sweet and wild coffee is waiting for you, with a full body and a long-lasting aftertaste in the cup. We cup passion fruit, mangosteen, a hint of Coca Cola and juicy red stone fruits.
