We are exclusively looking for exceptional and high-quality lots in Specialty quality for all our coffees with an SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) score of 86 points or more, sometimes significantly higher (see PREMIUM PICKS).
To always offer you the freshest quality with the greatest possible variety of flavors, we always buy only the freshest seasonal harvest so that we can offer it until the next new harvest.
We work with some of the most dedicated, innovative, and conscientious coffee producers in the world, trading our coffee either directly or with distributors who share the same values as us and guarantee a transparent supply chain. Learn more about our partners from whom we buy coffee.
COOLING STORAGE
Maximum aroma freshness
Green coffee has a moisture content of just 10-12% when we receive it from our countries of origin. In order to maintain this level for as long as possible and thus remain fresh and aromatic, all Leuchtfeuer Coffee green coffees are stored in a unique room within our roastery that has been specially built for this purpose. This Cooling Storage is fully air-conditioned throughout the year (15 degrees Celsius) and the humidity is always between 50% and 55%. In this way, we ensure consistently high quality and perfect environmental conditions so that our seasonal coffee retains its full aroma until the next harvest.

ROAST
CO2 saving roaster
We roast by conviction since 2017 on two roasters of the brand Loring. These extremely efficient and enormously energy-saving coffee roasters have a minimal Co2 footprint, which is very important to us. After we have developed the individual roasting profiles for each coffee on our small Loring roaster, we can reproduce them 1 to 1 fully automatically on both machines thanks to the innovative control technology. This allows us to guarantee one hundred percent reproducibility in every roasting for all our products and thus always the same taste experience for you. After each roasting, our coffees are destoned a total of four times.
SORTING
Selected beans
Before filling, our coffees are sorted using a so-called color sorter so that only the best beans with the purest taste end up in your bag.
In this process, precisely those coffee beans are sorted out that we do not want to have in our coffee bags, as there are: 1. so-called “Quaker” (underdeveloped coffee germ, very unpleasant taste), 2. over-roasted or burnt coffee as well as 3. stones or other particles that do not belong in a coffee bag. PACKAGING
Nitrogen flushed
After we roast our coffee, we pour it into our coffee bags. But before we finally seal the bag, we first remove all the oxygen from it before filling it with nitrogen for a fraction of a second. Thus, we guarantee a consistent quality of the roasted coffee in the unopened package without loss of aroma for a period of 4-6 weeks!
