FILTER COFFEE No.1 TARRAZÚ
Lychee, mango, tangerine, mangosteen
And here it is: Our first incredibly delicious experiment by and with our friends Carlos & Jacob from Costa Rica. Carlos is one of the most experienced coffee farmers in Tarrazú, the best and highest growing area for coffee in Costa Rica. In combination with his very ambitious and adventurous son Jacob, they develop the most interesting coffees in the whole region. Many customers and also we personally liked the exiting wild Siga Sunda with its 72 hour “bag fermentation”. During the last harvest from Indonesia, this was a very successful coffee experiment by our green coffee supplier for Specialty Coffee – Nordic Approach from Norway. That is why we had the idea to set up a comparable experiment in close cooperation with our farmer friend and his outstanding sun-ripened Costa Rican coffee beans. Carlos and Jacob were enthusiastic about the idea and together we were very excited about the result which exceeded all our expectations. Only the ripest and best coffee cherries of the Catuai variety were picked at an altitude of almost 2000 meters and then rotated over a period of 48 hours in plastic bags with the exclusion of oxygen at precisely defined intervals. The subsequent drying phase on African drying beds in partial shade lasted almost 2 weeks until the optimum moisture content was reached. The result is an incredibly aromatic coffee that tastes like a super sweet exotic Neckar with a pleasantly light body. Our “No.1” carries sun and friendship in its soul and lets us remember the beautiful hours in Costa Rica. We are pleased to be able to present you this heart project and this unique coffee and wish you a lot of fun while enjoying it.
