About this coffee

We are pleased to be able to offer a natural from Kenya in addition to our Gakuyuini (washed), because naturals from Kenya are rather rare. This single origin filter coffee with AA quality inspires us with its very characteristic, Kenyan acidity and as soon as we grind it, an intense scent of Black Forest cherry tarts fills our nostrils and puts a smile on our faces.
Only the best and ripest cherries are used for this unique, natural coffee and are picked by hand in Halle. The cherries are then dried for between 21 and 35 days.

ORIGIN INFO

The Farm

The history of the Endebess domain dates back to the 1940s. The management and the owners of the farm attach great importance to the well-being of their employees as well as to the ecological sustainability and social and societal development of the area.

Kenya mainly produces fully washed coffee and is considered by many to be the best quality producer in the world. There are more than 700,000 coffee farmers (small farmers) who produce about 55% of the production. The rest is mainly produced by large farms called estates. Many of the farmers are surrounded by several wet mills and they are free to choose where to ship their cherries to. Due to the traditional auction system in Kenya, quality is rewarded with higher prices. The better factories then attract more farmers by producing the highest-priced coffees, which they return to the farmers in the form of a second payment. After deducting the costs of marketing and processing, this amount can sometimes be up to 90% of the selling price.
